Get ready for some golden hour gooeyness. For Field Day's fall lookbook, we drove up Mt. Diablo in Trinity's adorable RV, stocked full of her beautiful handmade designs, chasing light as it descended over the horizon. Models: (from left to right in the first image) Diana Rykun, Jazz Sizemore-Hoskins, Merylynn Valencia, Sarah Garcia, and Tabitha Nelson
Bryte | San Francisco Photoshoot
San Francisco Fashion Photographer | Mt. Davidson Photoshoot I had a great time working with Bryte on these images, and I finally captured the fog I'd been dreaming about for a while. Something about the way these colors look in the thick mist is so stunning! Be sure to also check out the False Twins series that was also produced during this shoot.

Jazz | UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens Photoshoot
UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens Photoshoot | Berkeley, California Photographer What I like about this shoot is that we went from a very organic, ethereal scene in the greenhouse to a much grittier, colorful, urban scene in Downtown Berkeley, yet it still seems to flow fairly well. Model Jazz Sizemore-Hoskins was awesome to work with, as well as hair and makeup artist Terry Alabata. Hope you enjoy it!
Anthropologie Chevy Chase - Washington, D.C. trip!
A few days ago, I returned from a weeklong trip to D.C. for a friend's wedding. My parents and I had some time to be tourists before the wedding festivities, so I took advantage of the new scenery and booked a photoshoot with a local Anthropologie! They brought the clothes & the models, and suggested this fantastic spot in Georgetown along the canal, and it was a great time. Here's to my first non-California, formal photoshoot! Be sure to check out Anthropologie Chevy Chase on their Instagram.
FlyAway BlueJay Branding Shoot
Wilder Ranch Photoshoot | Bay Area Commercial Photographer
This shoot with Holly of FlyAway BlueJay was a lot of fun! She stocks a bunch of beautiful products, so featuring them against a coastal backdrop was a flawless combination. And of course, we had our lovely model, Sarah Swangler-Arimura, who helped make the products come to life. I'd love to do more of these branding shoots, so if you're a small business in need of some high-quality imagery for your website and social media, contact me!
5 of a Kind | ModCloth Shoot
I'm so happy to finally be sharing this shoot. The idea has been in the works since October 2015, and it took me nearly seven months to a) find 5 girls with dark hair & bangs, b) find a company to sponsor the identical outfits (thank you, Modcloth!), and c) pick a date that worked for everyone. I even had the privilege of working with Elise Muetterties of Near & Dear Style, who flew down from Seattle to style the shoot! I can't believe everything came together as nicely as it did. I wanted to portray the idea of being identical and in symmetry with one another. I find repeated shapes along minimal horizons to be so beautiful! So here it is: 5 of a kind.
Will | Vintage Men's Fashion
I love beards and jump at the chance to shoot them any chance I get. Combine a beard with some iconic San Francisco backdrops and you approach visual perfection. We wandered around the Presidio, Fort Point, and Land's End, which are all stunning in their own way. Will has quite the Instagram following - check out his feed at @sfwillieb!
Katherine at the Skyspace
San Francisco Fashion Photographer | de Young Museum | "Three Gems" Skyspace by James Turrell
Katherine is a stylist who owns a bunch of awesome clothes, and she also happens to great in front of the camera! I loved playing around with harsh light at the Skyspace, and the warmth of the walls really softened the harshness. We then wandered past the walls of the de Young and toward the Conservatory of Flowers, where a band was playing in the tunnel beneath the road. A beautiful day for photos!
Sarah
Part II of the Barnaby Jack Vintage lookbook shoot with our lovely model Sarah. (See Part I here.) I've been going to Castle Rock State Park since I was young, but this was my first time shooting there. As you can see, it's worth a trip up the mountain.
Andie
When Sara of Barnaby Jack Vintage contacted me about doing a lookbook shoot, I was so excited. The style of all her pieces was so in line with my own aesthetic taste, and we quickly learned that we had similar ideas for the entire vibe of the shoot. It came together quickly and flawlessly. Andie, our model for the first part of the shoot, did a wonderful job. (For part II of the shoot, click here.) You can see the photos up on her site! www.shopbarnabyjack.com
Hannah
Hannah and I have known each other since we were two. Our backyards are connected by a wooden gate. We grew up making (embarrassing) short films together and eating terrible homegrown oranges under a miniature Japanese maple. When we weren't pretending we were cats, we would fight over her cat Pumpkin, whom I desperately wanted to cat-nap as my own. Some Saturdays we'd sit on top of a hill by the water treatment plant eating Indian food and honey sticks from the farmers' market. She taught me most of the swear words I know, and has been in front of my camera from the very beginning. Given this background, you can see why it's a pretty special thing to shoot someone like this. Add in a thrifted wedding dress and some amazing locations - it doesn't get better!
Alexandra
Tucked away in the Santa Cruz mountains is a magical fish pond that sits in a quiet pocket of redwood forest. I hope that, in looking at these photos, you can feel the cool trickle of the stream that fills the spring box, smell the forest floor & crumpled bay leaves, and hear nothing but the gentle flow of water.

A fun fashion shoot with a dear friend...enjoy!
Minta
Palo Alto, California photographer | Arastradero Preserve | September 13, 2015
Sometimes I'm disappointed when the sun doesn't show its face for a shoot, but in this case, the cloud/smoke cover diffused the light beautifully, making shooting at any angle possible. Kimberly and Minta worked so hard to make this shoot come together - thanks, ladies!

Field Day Lookbook
Oakland Fashion Photographer | Field Day Wearables
"field day is a small indie clothing label born in 2005 out of Oakland, California. Trinity, the creator of field day, designs flattering, versatile, long-lasting, and completely conscious ready-to-wear line inspired by classic silhouettes that flatter the figure. field day utilizes the most sustainable materials available such as reclaimed vintage bed sheets that have been dyed in small batches to organic cotton grown and milled in California." I excerpted this bit from her website because I wanted to make sure you all knew how wonderful the story behind these designs is!
I had the opportunity to work with Trinity in getting some photos for a lookbook of her fall collection. It was so fun working with all these ladies - enjoy the photos, and be sure to go buy yourself something! (I know I will.) :)
Big thanks to models Mali, Nea, Emily, & Jaclyn!

Joré
El Capitan Canyon & Gaviota State Park
I don't think either of us knew what we were getting into for this shoot. This was the first time I had been to both of these places (the train trestle and the wind caves), and based on some vague research into each, I had certain expectations. One thing I didn't expect was a 60-foot section of nearly vertical climbing to get to the caves. Needless to say, Joré was definitely more in shape than I was. She is involved in theater at UCSB (I love theater people!), and I had a great time working with her.

SANTA CRUZ, CALIFORNIA PHOTOGRAPHER
Sempervirens: "ever green, everlasting." Redwoods are incredible; they can live for 2,000+ years, they're fire-, insect-, and disease-resistant, and their needles absorb morning fog for moisture. Drop one of their seed pods in a vile of water, and it will turn a rich burgundy from the seed's tannic acid content. As we walk, the scent of bay leaves and rich forest dirt permeates the air, as golden dust hangs in the lingering sunlight. This shoot is one of my favorites. I hope the photos accurately reflect the magic of the redwood forest. It couldn't have been done without the help of hair & make-up artist Terry Alabata and software-engineer-by-day and model-by-night Olga Silina, who are both two awesome, talented ladies.
Adele
POINT REYES, CALIFORNIA PHOTOGRAPHER
From tree tunnels, to parasols, to a rock face that seemed to temporarily transport us to the Scottish Highlands – this shoot was quite a journey. An amazing day exploring the Point Reyes National Seashore with these three, who made my life so much easier:
